The Correct Answer to the Public Financing Question
Tue Feb 26, 2008 at 07:20:48 PM PDT
Overall, I think Obama is doing a great job tonight. I thought his response to the question of the opposition to the war was a grand slam.
That being said, I think that he missed a serious opportunity when he answered the question about his alleged "pledge" to public financing. To be honest, he flubbed the question. It was one of the few times tonight where he has basically dodged the question and it was blatantly obvious. Unfortunately, he missed a golden opportunity to take sledgehammer to John McCain...
Anyone know the procedure for filing to run for Congress in Texas?
Thu Feb 17, 2005 at 01:45:08 PM PDT
I have a friend that is dead serious about running for Congress in the TX-5. I told him I'd look into the procedure for declaring candidacy, staring fundraising and getting on the ballot. So far, I'm not having much luck.
Any Kossacks know exactly what the procedure is? For example, how many signatures he needs, when can he start raising money, etc? All I could find was a form to file with the Secretary of State for the primary ballot.
Ann Coulter really is just too stupid to live

So they have the bride of Satan debating Paul Begala on Larry King, where she showed that she really is too stupid to live. In her discussion of how the democrats are weak and are the party of appeasement, she brings up World War II. It is here that she shows that she has no knowledge of history. She makes the claim that if John Kerry were President, we would not have fought Hitler, as we would not have seen him as a threat. Of course, the stupid bitch apparently didn't attend history class or else she would have learned that Germany declared war on the United States in World War II. How can they let someone that stupid on TV.
And honestly, how can she say that if John Kerry is beholden to our allies, we wouldnt have helped them when their very existance was in question?
But perhaps most appaling was her dismissal of the French experience during the war. She made the claim, "well, France wouldn't have supported our attacking then either?" Is she really that fucking stupid. She seems to be saying that the French are weak for being conquered by the Germans and that they were weaklings that opened the Germans in with open arms. It's not the French people's fault that their Generals were idiots, and more importantly she disrespects the sacrifices of the countless people who gave up their lives to resist the Nazis or the others who fell victim to the evil Nazi regime.
She just makes me sick and I truly believe she is the bride of Satan

Sorry to take up the space folks, but has anyone out there seen an actual poll on the Martin Frost/Pete Sessions congressional race (TX-32)?
Even Gallup Says We Won

I'm watching Larry King, and he just reported that Gallup surveyed 650 ppl who watched the debate, and that the people thought Kerry won with 53%, I think they had Bush at 37%
Zell Miller=duplicitous jackass
Wed Sep 01, 2004 at 11:48:46 PM PDT
I have spent the last 4 years as a student at the University of Georgia, and as a consequence I was bombarded by Georgia politics. I have seen Zell Miller's descent into lunacy first hand. I've had a visceral hatred of the man since 2002 when he first got on his pro-Bush bandwagon. However, it wasn't until his comments about Max Cleland at the end of his Hardball interview that I had the proof of just how much of a duplicitous fuck he is.
I had always suspected that he had intended to hang Max Cleland out to dry 2 years ago, given that he kept his mouth shut until about 10 days before the election, and even then he said very little. But tonight, we got the proof. He said the Homeland Security bill and the fight over unions was the proof that the Democrats didn't care about national security, and then he refused to defend Cleland. He practically admitted that Cleland deserved to lose 2 years ago, and by extension of his criticism of Kerry, joined the chorus of those that questioned Senator Cleland's patriotism. Given his statements tonight, it now seems abundantly clear that he never had much intention of helping Cleland in his re-election fight. He hung a hero like Max Cleland out to dry against a hate-monger like Saxby Chambliss. He professed friendship and admiration for Sen. Cleland, all the while praying for his downfall. This is about as duplicitous and dishonorable that a politician can get.
His only response to whether it was ok to show Cleland in an ad with Saddam Hussein was that "his loss didn't have anything to do with that." His refusal to conedemn those adds, 2 years after the fact just shows how low he has sunk. It also shows that he is in fact a loon, if he thinks the homeland security bill wasnt the ONE thing that allowed Chambliss to beat Cleland. It is clear that Zell Miller has lost all touch with reality and is more concerned with keeping himself in the spot light as long as possible before he fades into obscurity. President Carter was absolutely correct when he said, "Appointing Zell Miller to the Senate was the biggest mistake Roy Barnes ever made." For justice to prevail, this man must be given his comuppance, but the only way to do that is to make sure we send George Bush packing in November.
